Dear Ms. Delamare: 

My name is Jhom Patino I am a third-year student here at The City College of New York with the intend of majoring in Electrical Engineering. I am born and raised here in New York City more specifically in the Bronx, but I did live in Ecuador for some time when I was a child. My family is from Ecuador which is a small country located in South America but although small it has some great features. I am the youngest of five siblings and I am also an uncle since the other four have their families made. Having that background and being raised by only Spanish speaking parents and siblings I am also bilingual in the Spanish language. 

I would like to describe myself as a person who seeks great adventures and a person who likes to challenge themselves regardless of how hard the journey is. Hence being a reason why I choose to do engineering because I know the journey to becoming one is not easy and it is not for everyone. But I believe that I can do it. I also see myself as a person who is ambitious and is caring about the people who are in my circle. I also like to put discipline over motivation, but I would be lying if I say I always follow that. Sometimes my discipline fails me, and I am a procrastinator, and along the way I make mistakes, but I take responsibility for it. it is a work in progress like everyone else I’m human and I’m not perfect. 

What I look forward in the future is being able to have a good job in which I enjoy doing because then it will feel less than an obligation and more of a time of enjoyment. And to ultimately be able to finically help my family in any form. For the short term would be to get an internship in the engineering field within this year or before I graduate that way, I have some experience which I think can help me over all once I graduate college. In addition, I would like to get my master’s degree. 

As we see the world is advancing in many ways and it all requires some sort of engineering in which one day, we hope to be a part of these new inventions. A recent one I can think of is the new Apple Vision Pro which is a sort of headset that allows you to do your work virtually which still being able to connect with the real world. As if a computer is in front of your eyes. These types of inventions are the future.
